Idaho Summer Pack Trips into the Back Country

Would you like a "Go back in time adventure"? Where you would be like the first mountain man, just you and the vast wilderness! Then experience our unique horseback trip to the turn of the previous century at the "Historic Gilmore Ranch" This is a one of a kind trip by horse back into this road less area, where we live as they did a hundred year ago. We overnight in the original 1930's Barton Cabin and by day ride into the vast endless forest, hike or fish a virgin mountain stream. In the evening we site around a camp fire and reminisce after viewing deer, elk or moose grazing in the meadow before the sun sets.

The Gilmore Brothers (Elmer, Fred and Sam) home steaded the area in the late 1800's and had a Bed and Breakfast lodging riders passing through during the Gold rush days. They raised cattle and farmed the land with the farm equipment still standing still in the meadows.

Fred lived in the side of the mountain and Elmer had the B&B lodge. Sam built a cabin but never lived in it and it still stands as a ghost form the past. There is so much history here and we would love to share it with you.

The back country trips are great for wild life viewing. Pictures below were all taken by our guests on thier special trip to the Historic Gilmore Ranch. You will see Rocky Mountain Rlk, White Tail deer and the occasional Shirus Moose in the pond.

Cost is $425.00 per person for 2 full days and 1 night at the historic cabin

Horse Trail riding, Hiking, Fishing, Gold Panning, Relax in one of the hammocks, Wild life viewing is best in June and early July, Photography. Join us on this mountain ride for a lasting memory!
